An innovative, on-demand approach for post-amputation pain.

Altius system was developed by Neuros for the treatment of chronic post-amputation phantom limb and residual limb pain. Altius uses Neuros’ patented Bioelectric On-Demand Nerve Block Technology to target pain at the source, the affected peripheral nerves.

In late 2021, Neuros completed recruitment for the QUEST study — a 180-subject, randomized, double blinded, active sham-controlled, clinical trial conducted under an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE). QUEST is designed to assess the safety and effectiveness of the company’s Altius system for the treatment of intractable post-amputation pain. The study remains blinded through its 12-month follow-up, per the study protocol. Currently, Altius is an investigational device and not for sale in the US.

The Neuros Altius System consists of an implantable generator with an integrated rechargeable battery, cuff electrode, and external devices (Clinician Programming Wand, Patient Controller and Charger).

How Altius works

  • Targets pain at the source

    The Altius system’s cuffs are placed at the source of post-amputation pain, on the affected peripheral nerves.

  • Delivers a unique bioelectrical nerve block

    Neuros’ technology delivers a high-frequency bioelectric signal to the targeted sensory nerves to block the pain signal.

  • Patient controlled

    Patients use a controller to activate a 30-minute treatment, giving them the freedom to use as needed.
